About

Katie McBigbrain:  I am a 26 year old married graduate student and lover of all things baked or otherwise coated in sugar.  I am a self-taught (with some familial assistance) baker and have a recipe card file full of desserts that would blow your mind.  It borders on a sickness.  In my baking quest I’ve twice beat out large sums of old ladies at pie and cake baking contests and love nothing more than baking a dessert to share with a crowd.  I do possess the ability to cook, but given the choice, I’d choose baking any day.  Unlike Daisy, I am a lover of properly measured ingredients and careful adjustments in the kitchen.  You will never hear the words pinch, dash, or smidgen come out of my mouth.  Some people call me a control freak, and most of them are right.  When I’m not baking, you can find me blogging at my original site, Overflowing Brain.

Daisy JD: I am a 26 year old married  lawyer (also known as Katie’s lost-at-birth-tw0-weeks-younger-than-her-twin-sister) who learned to cook with her Mama. As a child I had a toddler sized table in the kitchen where I “chopped” the lettuce for our dinner salads, and as I grew into my annoying, angst-y teen years the only activity Mom and I could do together without one of us wanting to poke out our eardrums was cook.  My Mom is a self-taught cook and then she taught me.  As a result I do a lot of “add lemon juice until it tastes good” or “a pinch of paprika…come on now, a big pinch!”  - but in reality, I think every cook should feel comfortable adjusting things until it fits her table’s palette.  You can find my other thoughts on life at Daisy, Just Daisy.

Disclaimer:  We are not professional chefs, simply lovers of food, recipes and kitchen craftiness.  Our recipes are often adaptations of ones we’ve found or have been given and we will do our best to give credit where it is due.  There will most certainly be a time when we discover that a sacred family recipe is actually the one on the chocolate chip bag, but don’t hold that against us.  Hold it against our families.

Bon Appetit!
